EcoSmart Fire tables are designed to be enjoyed for years. Whether yours is crafted from Fluid™ Concrete or Grade A Teak, a little care goes a long way in keeping it looking and performing at its best.
This article covers care guidance specific to fire table surrounds.
CONCRETE FIRE TABLES
Understanding Your Concrete Surround
Your fire table is handcrafted using Fluid™ Concrete Technology — a sophisticated system that creates exceptionally strong, durable, and relatively lightweight concrete. While the unit is concrete all the way through, there is a thin protective coating on top that allows us to offer different colour finishes while maintaining the strength of solid concrete underneath. Concrete is a natural material, and minor changes in colour, texture, and surface appearance over time are normal characteristics — not defects.
Moisture Is the Biggest Factor
Moisture plays the biggest role in how concrete ages. Even when covered, if water gets underneath the cover, it can't evaporate properly.
Always make sure your fire table is completely dry before covering it
Regularly uncover your fire table to let it breathe and allow trapped moisture to evaporate
If your unit is fully exposed outdoors, consider its placement relative to rain, sprinklers, and drainage
Different types of flooring can draw more moisture — unsealed timber decking is particularly porous. Protect the floor from any moisture or water run-off.
Sealing Your Concrete
We recommend applying a penetrating concrete sealer at least every six months for residential use, and every three months for commercial environments. Sealants break down naturally over time through regular use, cleaning, and UV exposure, so periodic reapplication makes a real difference to the long-term appearance and resilience of the surface.
Clean the surface first with mild soap and warm water and allow it to dry completely before applying any sealer.
Protective Covers
A protective cover is one of the best investments for your fire table. Always make sure the surface is dry before placing the cover.
Using a Touch-Up Pen on Concrete
Clean and smooth the area. Sand gently if needed.
Shake the pen for 15–20 seconds.
Test on a small spot first.
Apply thin layers, letting each dry before the next.
Smooth with fine sandpaper if needed.
Recommended: reseal with a concrete sealer for extra protection.
TEAK FIRE TABLES
Understanding Your Teak Surround
Our fire tables are handcrafted from premium Grade A teak and are supplied in a natural (un-oiled) finish. This hardwood contains its own natural oils, making it highly durable and naturally resistant to harsh weather conditions — well suited to year-round outdoor use.
Natural Colour Change & Patina
Over time, exposure to sun, rain, and humidity will gradually change the raw honey-gold colour of teak to a silver-grey patina. This is a cosmetic change only — not a sign of dryness or deterioration. If you prefer to maintain a golden-brown appearance, you may periodically apply a suitable teak care product such as clear natural linseed oil (not boiled), Golden Care Teak Protector, or a natural teak oil.
Routine Cleaning
For regular maintenance, clean the surface with a mild soap and water solution every few months. Rinse with clean water and allow the teak to dry completely. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive pads, or pressure washers, as these can strip the wood's natural oils and damage the surface.
Oiling and Protection
For added surface resistance, apply a teak oil or sealer once or twice a year — more frequently if the furniture is regularly exposed to strong sun, rain, or humidity in a commercial setting. If you choose to oil your teak, use clear natural linseed oil (not boiled), following the manufacturer's instructions. Golden Care® Teak Protector is also a tried and tested option.
Staining
Liquids spilled onto raw, unsealed teak may leave marks or stains on the surface. To reduce the risk, promptly wipe up spills and consider applying an appropriate oil or protector if you prefer additional surface resistance.
Protective Covers
A protective cover is one of the best investments for your fire table. Always make sure the surface is dry before placing the cover.
